Banlieue (French) = Suburbs with low-income apartments and social housing. Many banlieues were constructed in the 60's following an urban planning model popularized by the celebrated architect Le Corbusier, which separates areas according to several functions: living, commerce and work. This led to the isolation of the living centers, with negative consequences. This ghettoisation is sometimes called Le Corbusier apartheid.

L'neuf trois, 93, refers to Seine-Saint-Denis, the most infamous banlieue of Paris.

Third World is a name given to nations that are generally considered to be underdeveloped economically during the 20th century.
